Blogs are pretty ace

Have you ever sat down and read through all your past blog posts?
I've just done that very thing.
It has made me feel so grateful that I started blogging.
I have been able to look back on the past 2 years and see my children grow and change, see the changes happening in our home, and remember all the good times and fun things we've done.

Sadly I could also see the part of me that struggled through a fair chunk of the last year. I remember trying so hard to focus on the good things that were happening, while feeling like I was being
swallowed up by my own misery.
A few things happened that made me feel that way, which I won't go into, but they are things that are now well and truly over. I actually feel like I'm reading the words of someone else, and I feel sorry for them.
I feel so far away from that time now, I am so much happier!

While reading through my posts I had a good laugh! Not to toot my own horn, but I'm pretty funny!
I picked out a few photos that I want to re-share, because good photos deserve to be looked at over and over again.
Have you ever reminisced through your old blog posts?

{52 WEEKS OF HAPPY} 2/52

2. That great feeling of a fire on a chilly spring night
3. The driveway is as good of a place as any to relax with the cat isn't it?
4. A simple vignette with new and old things

The other night Ryleah and I were going through some photos looking for some pictures of
her and her best friend Steph.
As always happens, we got sidetracked and found ourselves going through all the old folders from years ago and reminiscing about when the kids were little.
I don't know if it's because the kids are getting so much older or if it's because I'm getting so much older, but looking back certainly got me a bit choked up!

It made me realise I miss a few things.
I miss their cute little tiny baby faces.
I miss their little baby teeth!
I miss being able to dress them in whatever I liked, and do their hair in fun hairstyles.
I miss the cute smiles Ryleah would do for the camera (now I get a bewildered look)
and the silly faces Jesse used to pull (he now claims he can't make funny faces for a photo, fear of looking uncool I think!)
I really miss how they used to be so cute together. Ryleah is so reluctant to be affectionate towards Jesse, but he would gladly cuddle her all day. Poor boy!

Having said that, I really love the age that they're at now.
They are really turning into their own people, with their own opinions.
I love sitting and listening to them having conversations with other adults, it makes me proud to hear them interacting as mature people.
I still get lots of cuddles which is great even though I almost get knocked over when
they run up for a big hug!
And they're funny. Like, really funny!
It's absolutely crazy the amount a child can change in even as little as 1 year.
Jesse is 2cm off being as tall as me now, and has a thickening layer of dark peach fuzz on his upper lip.
He mentioned puberty today. Puberty!!
Ryleah too is growing taller, but her personality often has me forgetting that she is only 10. Sometimes I treat her as if she's older, then I try to stop that because before too long she will be older and my little kid will be gone.
I'm excited to see how the kids grow up and into teenagers and then adults, but I'm sad at the thought of no kids being around.
Will they want to hang out and talk with me like they do now?
Who will I make cool things for?
What if time goes too fast and I don't make the most of it?

How do you feel about your kids getting older?
{While writing this post, Jesse has come out of bed twice just to give me a hug.
He really is the sweetest thing.}

How have you been man?
Pretty busy I'd imagine. All those presents to get ready for the big day!
I sure hope the elves aren't giving you too much grief.

Anyhoo, there's just 6 weeks til Christmas so here's my list.
I'm not sure that Ben would like this but I sure do!
Happy wife, happy life Benny!

Must be in turquoise thanks

Cause they're a bit fun, and who doesn't love scrabble I ask you?

In a word- ace.

Yes, I can see myself sneaking a cheeky summertime nap on this baby.

Now I'm not all selfish, here's an idea for the kids and Ben too!
This would make a cool feature for my man child's bedroom

Ryleah would go nuts for this!

Would look pretty awesome in the man cave

I have been awfully good this year, so please make my Christmas an ace one!
Thankyou very much, Rach

{Ps. I've made it pretty easy for you this year, just pop onto Down That Little Lane, it's all there!}
