Playing photographer

I've been pretty lucky lately.
I've been given a few opportunities to take photos of some lovely little babies, which has lead into some family shots too.

I'm grabbing these opportunities and running with them!

I've always loved taking photos, so it's exiting to get out there and take photos of people other than family members, even though I love that a lot.

Anyway, enough chatter!
Have a look...

HELLO!

Hiya!
It's been a little while!
Things have been, as always, busy around here.
Sure, I've had the occasional moment where I could have been blogging, but, truth be told,
I just couldn't be bothered.

In the past I've beaten myself up for being absent from this space, like I've committed myself to something that I can't keep up with.
Now I have a new way of thinking about it.
I've decided to treat it like an old friend.
You know the type that you might not see for a long long time, but when you finally do catch up, you just pick up where you left off, and there's no hard feelings, and no guilt.

So, what's been happening?
Well, there's work of course. Which I'm totally loving.
We're looking into a website at the moment so I have lots of work ahead of me with product photography and figuring out how I want the online shop to look.
I'm really excited about that, it's the only way to reach a wider audience.
This small city that we live in really feels like a little country town sometimes in that it is hard to break into with a new business.
People are stuck in their ways and new things are overlooked for the known, the comfortable.
I'm exited about the future of my little shop!

Ben has been super busy at home, building us a huge ace decking in the lower part of our yard.
I'm loving it!
I've been dreaming of the summers to come when it's all finished, entertaining friends and family under a ginormous umbrella, cooking pizzas in our pizza oven.
Oh, and I'll also have a new kitchen by then.
Ace.
It's been a long time coming, and now it's so close I can smell it!
Four years of unfinished backyard, almost done, hells yeah!!

We've just finished school holidays, which I always love.
I love the break in routine, and having the kids around more.
I worked for the first part of each week, then the kids and I drove to Ocean Grove for the weekends.
We hung out with my parents, not doing a great deal.
I got to ride my new bike Ethel, which is a mint green vintage style beauty.
I cruised the streets of the caravan park with the kids, and Ethel turned heads,
many people yelling out "Cool bike!"
I havn't rode a bike in years until now, and I am enjoying it greatly.

Well, it's been nice catching up old friend.
There's more to tell, but it will have to wait- I'm a nana these days and it's after 10! So tired!

A rad giveaway

Hey peeps!
Not a great deal of anything interesting happening around here lately,
but we (at Modern Vintage) are hosting an ace giveaway
over at The Beetleshack blog this week.
Check it out and enter for a chance to score some pretty sweet goodies.

While you're out there surfing the interwebs, check out this:

Do you watch The Block?
I never remember to sit down and watch shows when they're on so I usually catch up on the website.
This year they've started The Block Shop which showcases a lot of awesome products which they love and  also some that they use on the show.
I was a tad excited when Tessa from DTLL said she had chosen Modern Vintage to be a part of it!
It's such a great opportunity and a privilege to be a part of.
This ampersand is just one of the products we have listed on The Block Shop.
It's also up for grabs in the giveaway. Go get it!

LITTLE JOSHUA

Meet the newest member of our family.
This little man is my nephew, the son of my husband's sister, also one of my best friends.

Joshua Paul Linke was very eager to meet everyone - he was welcomed into the world
on Tuesday the 5th of February at only 33 weeks, and weighing 4 pound 11 ounces.

I'll be taking as many photos as I can of this little man before they have to go back to Kalgoorlie when he's big enough.
They live there and Kel was over here for a wedding when her waters broke, causing her to have to stay until the birth of her baby. That was 3 weeks ago.
I'm secretly so grateful that she was here when it happened so she could be close to family, otherwise she would have been flown to Perth with no family near by, apart from her husband.

So for now I am making the most of them being here, because before too long they'll be back home and he'll grow up and I'll miss it all!

He's been in a humidicrib since he was born, but I've been told he's kicking goals in the growing and getting strong department and was being moved into a normal crib this afternoon.

Tomorrow we're going to 'pimp his crib' with some cute baby bunting and a glittery name tag!

Aren't tiny babies just the most amazing things?

CHICKENS & DUCKS

It's been a while since the chickens have featured here in my blog.
They are the most relaxing creatures to be around, and are a constant form of entertainment.
If you don't own chickens, you might want to turn away now.
If you do, you will appreciate my love for these little critters!

Living amongst my chooks are 4 beautiful ducks, which no doubt you would have seen here before.
They are much more timid than the chickens, and will definitely keep their distance from people.
But they are so gorgeous to watch.
Did you know that only female ducks can give a good loud 'Quack!'?
The boys have more of a husky, whisper-like quack.

So here they are for your viewing pleasure.
(Oh, and a couple of goats thrown in too!)
Happy Wednesday!
