A perfect day for working outside!

Who can stay inside when the weather is so superb? 31 degrees, no wind, sweet!

With the company of Otis & my baby chickens of course!

Australia Day

Yesterday we had a really ace Australia day at a friends house. They have the best set up - tennis court, games room with large verandah  (fully equipped with couches, pool table & kitchen) over looking tennis court, a huge playground area for the kids, and best of all, a 120 metre long waterslide going into the dam. Ace I tell you.
Lily the sausage dog loved chasing everyone coming down the slide on their boards!

Definitely not just for kids!

A great day was had by all!

{This moment}

A Saturday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see. {Soule Mama}

Old things to chop up!

I've been busy collecting old books ready to be cut up for the new batch of pendants and brooches and I'm so excited! Got some ace things which I think are gonna look awesome.
Take a look:

I love the old fonts and colours of this street directory

Archie!

Have a look at her!

I love these old atlas', but they're so hard to find!
I'll be back with the results!

New photos

Here's my latest additions to the photo project I'm doing which I mentioned in my last post. This week's theme was 'Togetherness' or 'Metal'.
I took some photos of my cute little vintage cash register cos I love it so much! I ended up using 2 photos of the same object for both themes.
'Metal' theme

'Together' theme
Yes I know the together them was a stretch, but the keys look so cute all lined up 'together' right? Ha!
'What's your viewpoint?' Photo challenge
This photo was for the first photo challenge of the year. The challenge was to take photos of something from a different angle than what you would usually do. I like this, Jemima looks so cute!
Loving this project - it's making me think more about what I'm taking pictures of and look at them in a different light. Next week's theme is 'Abandonment' or 'Doors'. Hhhm, interesting! Will keep you posted!

Let's do 52

So it's a new year, and it's at this time that we always think of some new goals for ourselves to achieve right? Well I didn't really have anything in mind, apart from continuing the market stuff, and I wasn't too fussed about it either.  But then I came across something that I couldn't pass up - 'Let's do 52' is a fun photography project started by Annie from Paint the Moon. The idea is pretty simple, you just need to take 1 photo per week and add it into the Let's do 52 group on Flickr. Easy so far, but I reckon once I'm back at work and everything's back to it's busy self it will get rather tricky. Plus, I can't just post any old photo! It has to be one I'm completely happy with letting other photographers see.
Anyhoo, this is my first photo for the year, taken of my cute nephews earlier this week on our tyre swing.
Now while we're on the topic of photography, you have to check out Paint the Moon by the chick who started this project. She has made these photoshop tools which you can download and use on your pics. I've just had my first taste and LOVE them! I find photoshop confusing and annoying and takes up way too much time, but these tools help heaps, just a click will change your photos dramatically. Next I'm getting one to help sharpen eyes, it makes any eyes look amazing! Serious, check it out (Michelle I'm talking to you!)
I got my first tools for free via the facebook page, it's a limited time thing so not sure how long you've got to try this out.

My new favourite thing to play with! Now to figure out how to delete a finger from the photo!
Adios for now

Little table 2

Just finished with the little table!
I scraped off the bits which had been coated in vaseline before being painted, then roughly sanded edges and corners with some fine sandpaper. I love the results!

Yay!

Little table

So a few weeks ago I mentioned my bargain from Ruth's in Smythesdale - a cute little timber table for only $10! Well I brought it inside and I've been looking at it & looking at it & trying to decide what to do. Do I paint it? Do I strip it back and stain it? Or do I leave it as is?
This morning I decided I would paint it, but I wanted it to still have that old look about it.
So far I've painted 2 coats of an off white, & I like it better already! There was some of the old paint which was fairly worn and was chipping & peeling, and I really like that so with those bits I put some vaseline on them. Then once the paint is completely dry I will just run a rag over those bits and they will come off as the paint would not have been able to stick! Genius!
This is how it looks at the mo, wet paint still.
Will see how those worn bits go hey?

Over!

Back again

Wow, I am really terrible at this blog thing.
I'm enjoying some time off work at the moment, kicking back, reading, nana naps(!) a bit of gardening and not much else. It's great to have some time to chill with the kids and not feel guilty that I should be doing something else.
So, the market! It went better than I expected! I had such a great time, and my sister Kate came along to help me out (thank god!). It was well worth all the work that went into it, and I will definitely be doing more markets next year.

I reckon one of the best parts of doing the market was meeting some really ace crafty people with stalls themselves. Behind me I had Sam from Ohme-ohmi, she had the cutest little kids clothes! I wish I'd seen her stuff when my kids were little! And next to her was her friend Pip with her label 'Pip & Maude' - the coolest handmade cards ever!
Pip & Maude

And of course I must mention the lovely Jen of A Mark in Time. I'm lucky enough to be Jen's hairdresser and look forward to catching up with her everytime she books in. She is extremely talented in making an artwork from any little old bits and pieces she finds, you must check her out!
Another of my hairdressing clients at the market was Amber from hardest button to button. She makes cool resin bangles with buttons and other various objects inside.

Another bonus of the day was having a lovely lady called Fiona approach me and offer to stock my products in her ace little shop Onabee in Kensington! I'm thrilled with that idea, it's all so exciting!

Also a few pieces have just been taken up to Darwin to be sold at a local market in a friend's stall. She also makes jewellery, laser cut images from wood. They're pretty cool, I'll post some photos if I can get my hands on them.
Wowsers, look at me go with the links and photos!

It's all looking very promising for 2011!  Happy new year to all!
