A few new things

Man it's been a crazy few weeks! Between weddings, hens nights, race days, spring cleaning, Christmas functions, Christmas shopping, community projects, kids, making things for the market, crazy busy time at work and incubating chickens, I've hardly had time to scratch myself! It's all good stuff though, I love it all. Plus I know  that in 2 weeks time it will all be over and I'll be taking a break from work. Nice!

So I'm almost ready for this market. Just doing the last finishing touches, and the jobs I'd been putting off, like making the chains for the pendants. Not fun I tell you!
Just checking how much room on the table it takes up, and I still have around 60 pendants and 30 brooches to be finished before the weekend.
I have also made a range of mini brooches, around 3.5 cm across.

 The brooch range.

A few more brooches on the production line! And Otis!

I popped down to the Main Road Market on yesterday to check out stall displays for some ideas. It was such a cute market, and had a great feel to it, especially with the 2 piece band playing ace music for us to wander around to! It was great to see the different stalls and their setup. It reassured me that I was on the right track with what I've been thinking of doing.

I'm so tired and can't be bothered, but I must go and solder about 60 pendants now. Also my chickens are just starting to hatch in my incubator-very much a distraction with their little beaks popping out every now and then and their little "cheeps". Too cute. Yes, I am a chicken lady.

The Design Exchange Market

Ooooh, it's so close now! Just getting the last few items made now, and trying to organize the layout of my stall. Will post some photos soon.

Getting there...

Well I'm still going hard making stuff for the design exchange market (only 5 weeks away!), and I'm feeling really good about where I'm at.  I have almost 70 pendants, 15 animal silhouette brooches, and 30 vintage brooches made, and still a few on the go.  I also got some small brown paper bags today and made some labels for them.

A sneak peek at the vintage brooches

My work space aka dining table

The next batch

On another note, I found the biggest bargain today at my all time favorite shop - Ruth's in Smythesdale.  I've been wanting a small table to fit 2-4 chairs for my meals area in the kitchen. Something rustic of course, and a casual place to sit and chill.
So I see this ace table sitting out the front of Ruth's today, absolutely perfect little thing, and it's only $10! Nearly had a fit! I'll be picking it up in the next couple of days when I can steal a car big enough to fit it in (mum's).  It will be my next little project so I'll pop some photos on soon.

Off I go again then, it's time for the next coat of varnish!

Getting ready for market

I spent a few hours last night polishing the new pendants and putting them all onto cards ready for the Design Exchange market in December.

I'm back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off, and it's going to get hard to find the time to do everything I need to do, but I'm sure I'll get there!

Tonight I'm making some brooches, also for the market. Here's a batch fresh from the oven!

I think they'll be really cute when they're finished!

Well I think it's time for a bit of a read then bed. Must be well rested for work tomorrow (aaargh!)

New arrivals

Well things have been very busy here for the last week or so.
First of all, last Wednesday we had 3 lovely little guinea pigs born at our house. Bit of a surprise considering I thought we had 2 girls, and I only discovered the very fat belly about 2 hours before the arrival!

Then on Thursday my parents surprised me with 3 cute little Indian Runner ducks, which I have been wanting for ages!

I also got my application approved for a stall at the new Design Exchange market in Ballarat in December. Exciting but scary at the same time, especially after I visited the Buninyong Makers Market on Saturday and saw all the ace stuff on sale there.
Well I'm off now to prepare for this market. I know it's still a couple of months away, but with the way this years going, it will be here in no time.
Catch ya!

Soldered glass pendants

A few of the finished soldered glass pendants I'm making

Just do it

I'm gonna make this short and sweet. I feel like the first post is the hardest - what to write?! Well I've been thinking about doing this for a while now, to show off my creations I suppose! But also I am wanting to make a little business from my glass pendants, and this seems to be the way a lot of arty farty people go about it these days.

For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with old things. When I was a kid, I could look at old photos of my family for hours.  It's branched off from there, to the point where most things I decorate my house with are ancient. They are also things which serve no purpose in this day and age, but they have character and I just love them! I'll post photos of my collected treasures, as well as new finds along the way. You'll see a lot of old things/vintage looks in my creations.

This is me with cool old stuff in the background!

That'll do for now, first post completed! Yay!
