The winds of change

Can you feel that?
It's coming, oh yes!
Change is very near and I'm close enough to taste it!

For the past few months I have been stuck between old and new.
Knowing that my shop lease was coming to an end, and also knowing that when it finished I was also ending my 13 year long hairdressing career.
Which I am excited about.
But also knowing that I would be moving my homewares store into a bigger and better premises, and working there full time.
Which I am super excited about!

Most of my hairdressing staff had left last year to have children or travel, so I've had to work more in the salon then ever before.
It is a really tiring job, and it has been draining me! 2 late nights a week means I only get to see my kids for the school drop off and then to kiss them goodnight. The washing piles up on the dining table. I never get to see my friends (sorry Michelle!). I don't have time to blog (or anything interesting to blog about!!).
And on top of it all, I have really lost my passion for it.
I mean, I love the social aspect of it, but man! I really could give or take the whole 'doing' of hair.
But seriously...how ace is the building?!
Having said that, I was never one of those hairdressers whose life was hair. In fact, I never planned on being a hairdresser. It was just one of those opportunities that came along. Don't get me wrong, I have had the time of my life in my salon, and have made some amazing friends, but I think it was more to do with the people than the hair itself.

So now I am about to do something that is my passion.
Home, decorating, beautiful things, vintage!
My homewares shop has been open for just over a year now, but it has never really felt like 'mine'. My parents are partners in the business (which I totally and utterly apprectiate - without them I wouldn't have been able to do it) and I have only been working in there 1 day a week, so I don't get to do everything that I want to with it at the moment.
But my plan is to buy my parents out as soon as I can, and they are wonderful and are letting me run everything as I want when we move.
This cute house is where Modern Vintage will be soon!
I have a vision for my business, and I'm so excited to be able to have the time to follow through with this vision.
I am giddy with excitement, with the possiblities!
And there will be blogging!
A few new things coming soon

I finish my hairdressing career on Saturday.
Oh how I can't wait to make that last snip! The last blow dry!
Wish me luck!!
